Shamar Rinpoche is the 14th Shamarpa, or Red Hat Lama of Tibet.
He was born in 1952 and received his training from His Holiness, the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa, who gave him all teachings transmitted in the Karma Kagyu tradition. Shamar Rinpoche spent many years studying with Buddhist scholars in India.
In 1980, he began to travel and teach in various Buddhist centers throughout Asia and the West. In 1996, he started “Bodhi Path”, an organization of Buddhist Centers in Asia and the West.
Rinpoche is the author of several books. In his most recent book, “The Path to Awakening”, (German: ‘Lojong - der buddhistische Weg zu Mitgefühl und Weisheit’), Shamar Rinpoche provides an extensive commentary on Chekawa Yeshe Dorje’s Seven Points of Mind Training.
