We are excited to welcome the venerable 6. Nedo Kuchung Rinpoche from Rumtek again! This time Rinpoche will explain us how to develop Bodhicitta, the enlightened mind. At the same time this course is a great opportunity to take the Bodhisattva vows. Love and compassion are the two elements of Bodhicitta, the enlightened mind, which is directed towards the benefit of all beings. This attitude is an essential aspect on the path to awakening and doesn’t only facilitate one’s own life but also the ones from those around us. Rinpoche will also explain the conditions of taking the Bodhisattva vows and what to take care of or how to restore them.
As a conclusion of this course, Nendo Rinpoche will grant the Bodhisattva vows. Taking these vows is considered to be very meritorious and beneficial.
The Ven. Nendo Kuchung Rinpoche, born in 1962, is the sixth Reincarnation in the supreme Nendo Kuchung lineage. In the age of 10 years he was recognized by His Holiness, the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa Rangjung Rigpe Dorje, as the incarnation of the previous Nendo Rinpoche. Until the age of 18 years he received teachings and transmissions from the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa in the Rumtek monastery in India. He then studied in Ladakh and entered a three-year retreat when coming back to Rumtek.
At the age of 25, after having completed the retreat, he was enthroned as the Vajra Master of Rumtek Monastery. Today Nendo Rinpoche is the main Vajra Master of H.H. the 17. Gyalwa Karmapa Thaye Dorje. Rinpoche stayed in Rumtek monastery until 1993. He then moved to the residence of Shamar Rinpoche, where his responsibilities included taking care of the monks and their education. In agreement with Shamar Rinpoche he bought a piece of land nearby and started to build his own residence and meditation place. Today Nendo Rinpoche’s responsibilities include taking care of Shamar Rinpoche’s monks as well as the activities of the Karma Kagyu lineage in Sikkim for H.H. the 17. Gyalwa Karmapa Thaye Dorje.
