With this teaching, Shamar Rinpoche is explaining the “Wishing Prayers of Samantabhadra”. Understanding this text is very important for everybody practicing on the Mahayana Path, the Great Vehicle.
These wishes present a way how to accomplish the activity of a Bodhisattva. At the same time, they are a great inspiration for all practitioners, to follow these wishes expressed by Samantabhadra, and thus deepening and supporting one’s own practice and conduct. This is one of the main reasons, why this “King of Prayers” is part of the Bodhi Path curriculum.
Just as all suffering of living beings is based on negative states of mind and emotions, happiness and liberation is based on meritorious activity and according wishes. This text of Samantabhadra is the perfect expression of those wishes, and enables the practitioner to accumulate the roots of virtue, and all the causes and conditions, which are necessary in order to be active for the well-faire of all sentient beings.
